Beloved Actor Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Dies at the Age of Sixty.

US performer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved television series including Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away at 60 years old.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles this Monday having undergone cancer treatment from 2022 onward, per media reports.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a message.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Television Career

His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He starred as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a social organizer known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous popular shows, such as:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight series between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles are It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".

The actor was seen in two episodes of "Friends" as Monica's boyfriend a doctor named Roger.

Beyond the Screen

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.

He was involved with a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.

"He coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted publicly.

Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
