Brian Eno Encourages Support to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to send a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The campaign aims to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Chance for Unity and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.
“It has a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Featured Artists
The single was laid down following a large-scale benefit event held in September. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the rendition was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of performers featured on Lullaby features a range of prominent voices from the scene. All participated in the benefit event, which managed to collect a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a trio of talented individuals. The track blends a mix of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.
The team running the project have stated that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These resources will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative explained. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Naturally, the more the merrier. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the region was characterized as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of property said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all making this cause better known and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from later in the month.
