Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," it added.
The statement noted debris fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
