Jurgen Klopp says coming back to coach Liverpool is conceivable.
Jurgen Klopp, who left Anfield in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club is something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful near-decade reign that included a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown since 1990, now holds positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and as an advisor with the German Football League.
Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
They secured England's top flight under Arne Slot, but many fans holding him in high esteem would embrace the possibility that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he shared with his interviewer: “I declared I will never coach any other side in England. Which implies should it be the Reds...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“At 58 years old, that means I might decide in a few years, who knows. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I'll simply watch what the future brings.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Pressed on what circumstances would have to unfold to draw him back to management, he revealed he isn't eager toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “No longing for management; No desire to be under bad weather for lengthy sessions; No need for interviews multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats a week.
“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant alongside the squad talking freely, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games so there was often a very good mood in the building. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
He commended for his successor, crediting him for the tweaks that won the league last term. Liverpool have lost four in a row across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the notion it could be a slump.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, they will be fine.”
Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward
Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Jota, whom he brought in while in charge, along with the consequences at the club. The forward lost his life in a road accident together with his sibling this past summer.
“How do you replace such an individual? It’s not about the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the team environment absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. A devastating blow for all the boys too. No one within the club might employ it as an excuse yet it's the reality. Being in that space which he filled completely. Handling this individually is difficult. Impossible.”
