Supporters Urge Custody of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of Ariana Grande are demanding that a person who breached a fence and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating clip depicts the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the actors walked down a event pathway accompanied by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers indicated that he was set to attend court on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed features recordings of him disturbing other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney concert in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last year.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," stated an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Show Disapproval Over the Star's Well-being
Several followers criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said one more comment on Instagram.
A number of attendees also criticised guards at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals demanded digital services to block Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Event Details
In footage shared widely, Grande looked surprised when she was approached by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Numerous of supporters had congregated in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had queued for as long as eight hours before it started.
The motion picture, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-part interpretation of the acclaimed theatrical musical Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely bond between two very different characters.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and scored 10 Oscar nominations, earning two for excellent wardrobe and production design.
