Trump Calls Families of Attacked Military Soldiers to the White House
Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.
He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Memorials across the state have occurred in their honor.
Presidential Call
The president stated he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both individuals of the state National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed journalists. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”
Public Response
Mourners came together over the weekend at a local school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to aid public safety in the capital.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“She was the kind of student that instructors desired. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her alma mater, stated to the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always ready to support those in need.”
Funeral arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Legal Measures and Policy Adjustments
Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy led the government to suspend asylum applications and halt issuing entry permits to owners of travel documents.
Condition of the Airman
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader the governor mentioned on a news program.
Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on a news show that she also intended to speak to his relatives.
Impact of Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor addressed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
